Hubert Sumlin est mort
"Hubert Sumlin, the long celebrated and legendary blues guitar master who played scorching guitar for Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters during the Chicago blues’ heyday in the 1950s, has reportedly passed away.
Born in Greenwood, Mississippi, Sumlin first heard Wolf play at ten years old, when he snuch into a juke joint to hear him. Sever years later, he moved to Chicago and as a young man, carved out an invaluable place as the lead guitarist for Howlin’ Wolf. Sumlin led a life dedicated to the blues, and was honored for his many accomplishments by an induction into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1988. In 2003, The Rolling Stones invited Hubert to sit in at a concert in Madison Square Gardens.
The life and musical legacy of Hubert Sumlin will not soon be forgotten. An indelible musical force, and a driving power in the creation of music as we know it, the man who’s guitar power fueled a blues frenzy that still burns hot will be dearly missed."
